Silent Screams (A Tribute To Judy) – By: Bethany JoAnna
We are always so honored when someone takes the time to reach out to us and share their thoughts and stories with us. This poem that was sent to us was so special that we wanted to share it with everyone. Thank you!
A whisper is loud if uttered in silence,
But a scream is silent if surrounded by noise,
And that’s how they do it.

A Message From The Author:
I wrote the book The Acorn & the Oak in memory of my aunt who lost her husband when she was forty-three. Over the years, she would go on to lose four of her six children. Despite so much loss, she continued to see all the beauty in the world around her. When we lost her, they asked if I would write a story for her funeral. I wrote the story of The Acorn & the Oak. It was only fitting. After all, in all the forest, it is the oak tree that is known best for its beauty and its strength.
My daughter Jessica illustrated the book. It took an entire year for her to find the perfect tree to inspire her art. We drove for miles and hiked through all the area parks in search of the perfect tree. A year after we lost my aunt, I pulled into the Barnes and Noble

Network to announce air date soon!
Pre-screenings are being scheduled for community viewings.
Executive produced by the legendary Sheila Nevins of MTV Documentary Films and the Oscar nominated team at Motto Pictures. Winner of a 2023 Gracie Awards for Documentary Directing, by Patricia Gillespie, THE FIRE THAT TOOK HER tells the story of precedent setting domestic violence advocate Judy Malinowski. In August of 2015, Judy was set on fire by her ex boyfriend, Michael Slager, suffering injuries that would ultimately take her life. Slager was initially sentenced to only 11 years for his crime— for Judy this was not enough. She spent the remaining two years of her life fighting for justice from her hospital bed. With the help of the Franklin County DA, Judy and her team managed to adapt a civil statute initially intended for mesothelioma victims to allow her to become the first woman to testify from beyond the grave, at the trial for her own murder.
Prosecutors Will Seek Death Penalty In Judy Malinowski Case
Franklin County’s prosecutor says his office will pursue the death penalty against a Gahanna man convicted of setting his ex-girlfriend on fire nearly two years before she died.
‘Judy’s Law’ Becomes Ohio’s Law
Gov. John Kasich has formally signed what’s become known as “Judy’s Law.” It’s legislation named for a Columbus woman that imposes longer prison sentences on attackers who intentionally disfigure their victims by using accelerants to set them on fire. As Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports, the law might not be the last to crack down on domestic violence.
